I have a favorite video that I watch three or four times a week. I had a copy of the video on a VHS tape many years ago. Now I watch it on YouTube. It is called, “This Is The Day”. It was originally produced by Maranatha Music. The video is full of nature scenes of the earth, the planets and animal life. The landscapes are beautiful showing every aspect of the created world. The Bible tells us that “creation tells of the glory of God”. (Psalm 19:1)
We shouldn’t be surprised that a beautiful creation tells of a beautiful God. Psalm 27:4 tells us that David had only one desire. He wanted to
“gaze on the beauty of the Lord”. Along with the nature scenes the
video is narrated by someone who reads portions of Scripture. One of my
favorite is from Isaiah 40. The chapter ends with the familiar lines, “run and not grow weary, walk and not faint”. (Isaiah 40:31)
The prophet’s words comfort me repeatedly. I find parallel themes in Isaiah 40. One theme is the greatness of God. The other is God’s
individual care for his people.
v.15 “surely the nations are like a drop in a bucket”
v.17 “before him all the nations are as nothing”
v.11 “He tends his flock like a shepherd”
I believe we need continual reminders of two things. We need continual
reminders of the greatness of God. We also need continual reminders of
God’s individual and intimate care for our lives. We live in troubled
times but we don’t have to be troubled like the world is. “God will
keep in perfect peace whose mind is fixed on Him.” Isaiah 26:3 Our
Triune God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit is sovereign and high above all
things. Yet by His Holy Spirit He cares and comforts His children
daily. I hope you are accessing that care and comfort each day.
God Bless You
