“Who’s the Greatest?”

We are in the season of Lent as we look towards Good Friday and Resurrection Sunday.  This Sunday we will remember the body and the blood of Jesus at the Communion table.  We will be in Luke 22:24-38.  In this passage we find the disciples in a “dispute”. Strange enough, Jesus has just taught them about Communion and his own costly suffering. that is coming.   The disciples lapse into a debate about “who is the greatest?”.  Needless to say God’s idea of greatness and the world’s idea of greatness are two very different things.  We will explore that on Sunday.  Peter’s denial of Christ is an integral part of this passage also.  We learn how God uses failure in our lives.  We love the high successful points of life.  Unfortunately, this usually fuels our pride and self-centered independence.  God uses failure, difficulties and hardship to make us more like Jesus.  None of us would sign up for that.  But it is amazing how God can bring good out of everything in life.  We serve a gracious, sovereign God.

God Bless You
