“For Such A Time As This”

WOW!…………….what a couple of weeks. The Shelly Fire starting in the Marble Mts. and quickly moving towards KCOC and Greenview. Then Rockside Ranch and eventually all roads going West off of Hwy 3 had to evacuate. In the 50 years that our family has lived here, I have never seen such a huge configuration of firemen, water tenders, dozers, helicopters, and support vehicles for this fire. I ‘m sure hundreds and hundreds were praying for our valley, many that used to live here. Even with all the personnel and equipment,it was still “shakey”. Then the great “I AM”, heard our prayers and sent the most wonderful downpour of rain to all but put it out, allowing so many tired and worried families back to their homes. Then on top of our concern for Scott Valley, we all saw the attempted assassination of Donald Trump, the uncertainty of leadership in Washington  D.C. and the growing concerns over Russia, China, Iran and North Korea. Just like Jesus said, “In the world you will have tribulation, BUT be of good cheer, for I have overcome the world. We, as believers only have to open the Bible to find assurance of HIS peace for our lives. Philippians 4:6-7. Don’t worry about anything; instead pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for what he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. That’s a great verse. I think that 2nd Corinthians 4:7-10 is even better at revealing how we all must feel “for such a time as this”.. We now have this great light shining in our hearts, but we are like fragile jars of clay containing this great treasure. This makes it clear that this great power is from God and not from us. We are pressed on every side with troubles, but not crushed. We are perplexed but not driven to despair. We are hunted down, but never abandoned by God. We get knocked down, but we are not destroyed. Through all these sufferings, we continue to share in the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be seen in us.

These are two WOW’s to hold on to. Be reminded: “God is on his throne and he is still in control of EVERYTHING.”

See you in church Sunday. Jim Beane will be sharing.
