Dear Berean Church Family, 11/17
I have been at home for the last several days due to a positive COVID test. I was at a Bible Conference in Portland two weeks ago and must have been exposed to someone with COVID. I am in daily communication with the Siskiyou County Health Department. It feels like I have had the flu but I’m getting better. Thank the Lord. Yesterday Siskiyou County was moved into a higher level of COVID restrictions due to a spike in COVID cases. The elders at SVBC met last night and decided to abide by the new restrictions which limit church services unless they are outside. For the time being SVBC will do our regular weekly worship services on-line. Bob Marshall and Craig Thompson are working on the technology piece to make this happen. I hope you have a computer so you can participate. These are certainly strange and interesting times we live in. I have been praying and asking for God’s peace, wisdom and guidance for our SVBC family. I am fully and completely convinced that our lives, our church and our troubled world are in the mighty hands of the King of the universe. As our idols of political, economic and national power become tarnished desperate people will be hungry for the hope of the Gospel. Psalm 2 describes evil in our world “conspiring against the Lord”. What is the Lord’s response? “laughter” God is not alarmed by anything that is happening in our world. God desires for His people to “abide” in Him and enjoy the fullness of the Holy Spirit which includes peace, joy and confidence. We can “rest” in God as Hebrews 3 & 4 describe. I have been in the Psalms lately reminding myself of God’s eternal perspective rather then a temporal and pedestrian view of life.
Thank you for your prayers
I am getting better
