Sermon Summary
Good Friday
On Good Friday, we stood at the foot of the cross and witnessed a King unlike any other. A King who was mocked, yet responded with mercy: “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” In a moment where judgment could have been justified, Jesus chose compassion. The King we follow is not defined by power as the world sees it, but by grace that meets us in our worst moments.
We also saw that the King was hung on a tree—intentionally stepping into the very place where sin first entered the world. Where Adam and Eve took from the tree in rebellion, Jesus gave Himself on a tree in redemption. What was once the symbol of humanity’s fall became the place of our restoration.
And on that cross, the King paid a debt we could never pay. With the declaration “It is finished,” the full weight of sin was satisfied. No striving, no earning—just the complete, final work of Jesus. The cross was not the end of hope; it was the fulfillment of it.
