“Made New By Serving Others”

One of the clearest ways we see God’s renewing work in our lives is in how we serve. In 1 Peter 4:7–11, Peter reminds us that being made new isn’t just about what we believe—it’s about how we live and love in light of Christ.

Made new people live with urgency, not apathy.

Peter begins by reminding believers that “the end of all things is near.” That truth isn’t meant to create fear, but focus. When God makes us new, He awakens us from spiritual complacency. We become clear-minded, prayerful, and intentional with our time. Urgency doesn’t mean panic—it means purpose. We serve because we understand that every moment matters and every opportunity counts.

Made new hearts serve with love, not self-interest.

Peter calls us to love one another deeply, because love covers a multitude of sins. When our hearts are made new, our motivation changes. Service is no longer about recognition, comfort, or personal gain. It becomes an expression of Christlike love—choosing grace over convenience and people over preferences. Love-driven service reflects the heart of Jesus more powerfully than any words we could speak.

Made new lives steward God’s grace, not their own strength.

Finally, Peter reminds us that our gifts are not self-generated; they are God-given. We are stewards of His grace, called to serve in a way that depends on His strength rather than our own. When we serve out of God’s provision, He receives the glory. Our lives become evidence that God is at work through ordinary people for His extraordinary purposes.

Being made new changes how we see time, people, and ourselves. As we live with urgency, serve with love, and steward God’s grace, our service becomes a living testimony of the renewing power of Christ.

In what area of your life is God asking you to stop living out of habit or comfort and to start living as someone who has been made new by His grace?

Find a place to serve others. Step out in faith and be made new by serving someone else.

In grace and love,

Pastor Brant
