The King, The Cross, & The Crown: From Suffering to Victory

This past week, we walked through the most powerful and pivotal moments in human history—from the sorrow of Good Friday to the triumph of Easter Sunday. Together, we saw that this is not just a story to remember, but a reality that reshapes everything about our lives.

On Good Friday, we stood at the foot of the cross and witnessed a King unlike any other. A King who was mocked, yet responded with mercy: “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” In a moment where judgment could have been justified, Jesus chose compassion. The King we follow is not defined by power as the world sees it, but by grace that meets us in our worst moments.

We also saw that the King was hung on a tree—intentionally stepping into the very place where sin first entered the world. Where Adam and Eve took from the tree in rebellion, Jesus gave Himself on a tree in redemption. What was once the symbol of humanity’s fall became the place of our restoration.

And on that cross, the King paid a debt we could never pay. With the declaration “It is finished,” the full weight of sin was satisfied. No striving, no earning—just the complete, final work of Jesus. The cross was not the end of hope; it was the fulfillment of it.

But Sunday changed everything.

The Resurrection reminds us that the story does not end in death. The King who was crucified is now risen. The grave could not hold Him, and because of that, it cannot hold us either. The resurrection is not just proof of His power—it is the promise of our new life. Sin is defeated. Death is conquered. Hope is alive.

The King who wore a crown of thorns now wears the crown of victory. And because He lives, we don’t just look back at the cross—we live forward in resurrection power.

So the question we carry now is this:  Will we live as people still standing at the cross, or as people walking in the victory of the empty tomb?

The King has come.

The cross has spoken.

And the crown has been won.

In grace and love,

Pastor Brant
