“Made New Through The Word”

One of the clearest ways God makes us new is through His Word. In 2 Corinthians 5:11–21, Paul reminds us that because of Christ, we are not just improved versions of ourselves—we are new creations. That transformation doesn’t happen accidentally; it is shaped and sustained as we immerse ourselves in Scripture.

First, The Word reveals who we were and who we are becoming. Paul tells us that the old has gone and the new has come. When we spend time in Scripture, we are reminded of where we’ve been, but more importantly, we are shown where God is taking us. The Word anchors our identity not in our past failures, but in God’s ongoing work of renewal in our lives.

Second, The Word reframes how we see the world and people. Paul explains that we no longer view anyone according to the flesh. God’s Word reshapes our perspective—helping us see others not through the lens of judgment, offense, or division, but through the lens of grace and redemption. As Scripture renews our minds, it changes how we respond to the brokenness around us.

Finally, The Word sends us out as ambassadors of reconciliation. Paul reminds us that God has entrusted us with the message of reconciliation and calls us His ambassadors. The Word doesn’t just transform us inwardly; it commissions us outwardly. As we are made new, we are sent into the world to represent Christ, carrying His message of hope, forgiveness, and restoration.

As we step into this season of being made new, I want to encourage you to join me in reading through the Bible in a year. It’s a powerful way to stay rooted in God’s truth and to allow His Word to shape us daily. There are several excellent Bible reading plans available on the YouVersion Bible App, along with many other trusted plans online. The most important thing isn’t which plan you choose—it’s choosing to be in the Word consistently and allowing God to continue His renewing work in you.

In Grace and Love,

Pastor Brant
