“What Practice Produces”

Every one of us faces moments that reveal what we’re truly made of. Moments of pressure. Moments of decision. Moments when our faith is tested. We like to think we’ll rise to the occasion when those moments come—but the truth is, we don’t rise to the moment, we fall to the level of our practice.

Jesus makes this clear in Luke 6:46-49 and Matthew 7:24–27. He describes two builders. Both hear His words, but only one puts them into practice. When the storm comes, the one who practiced obedience stood firm, while the one who only listened collapsed. The difference wasn’t knowledge—it was practice.

The reality is, what you repeat daily becomes how you respond naturally. Our habits shape our instincts. When we consistently practice prayer, we naturally turn to God in crisis. When we consistently practice obedience, we naturally choose faith over fear. What feels unnatural today becomes second nature tomorrow through faithful repetition.

This is whywhat you practice today determines whether you stand or fall tomorrow. Storms don’t create our foundation—they reveal it. The quiet, unseen choices we make each day are preparing us for the visible moments that define our lives. Faithfulness in the small things builds strength for the big things.

Ultimately, the difference between hearing and doing is the difference between falling short and finishing strong. Many people hear God’s Word. Fewer live it. But blessing, strength, and endurance are found not in what we know, but in what we practice.

So the question is simple: What are you practicing?  Because what you practice today is producing who you will become tomorrow. Choose to practice obedience. Choose to practice faith. Choose to practice the Word—not just hearing it, but living it. And when the storms come, you won’t fall apart. You’ll stand strong.

In grace and love,

Pastor Brant
