“A Healing Place”

Thank you for your prayers last weekend as I traveled to the Bay Area. I visited Butch Russ.  Many in the valley know him as “Big Butch”.  He has been in a hospital in San Francisco for over a year.  He had some circulation issues in his feet that required the removal of some toes. He is still trying to recover his balance so he can walk independently.   It was wonderful to see Cain on Saturday morning.  He is doing well at his YWAM training base in the Santa Cruz area.  His overseas mission has been changed to the Philippines.  Cain will be in the Philippines for two months doing missions and evangelism work.  Cain had a seizure about a month ago.  Pray he can get a doctor’s appointment and have an MRI done.  I got to share the Gospel at a funeral on Saturday afternoon and had a great time with some old friends. Lynne Bryan had a mission’s breakfast on Monday morning the day after I got back.   The mission’s committee hosted the Beckharts. It was wonderful to hear an update on their work with Frontier’s Mission.  If you haven’t heard the Beckhart’s story they lived in Scott Valley after leaving in their mission assignment to Eastern Europe.  Denise told her story of chronic fatigue, depression and deep spiritual discouragement She said,  “Scott Valley was a healing place for us during that time.” Naturally, my ears perked up as I heard Denise tell her story.  As I pray for our valley every day my prayer is for God’s Spirit to work renewal, healing and revival here where we live.  I want God’s people to be stirred with a renewed love for Jesus and a heart for lost people.  I desire to see people in and out of the church to have encounters with Jesus that bring about healing of every kind.  I see Jesus doing this type of work in the Gospel of Luke.  I believe the Father in Heaven desires to see the same type of miracles and life transformation happen today.  As I have heard Cain tell and retell his story of addiction recovery for the last few months I have been inspired.  He fondly recalls what God did in his life at Rockside.  Cain would heartily say, “Scott Valley was a healing place for me.”  As we continue through the Gospel of Luke read it with fresh eyes that rejoice at how Jesus sets people free from every affliction and how he still does that today.

God Bless You

Pastor Drew
