We had a wonderful worship service last Monday evening for the graduating seniors. We had a good crowd of about 80 people in attendance. It was wonderful to see the support from the parents and the community. Pray for our Seniors as they graduate on June 9. Many of you remember Leroy and Marilyn Bartel. They were pillars in our church for a long time. They now live in a retirement community in Nebraska. Tragically their daughter, Stephanie Johnson, died in a car accident on Yreka mountain last week. Kent Bartel, Stephanie’s brother, is a pastor in Southern California. Kent and I will be conducting a memorial service for Stephanie on June 17 at 10am. The memorial service will be held at SVBC. There will be a reception afterwards at Etna City Park. Keep the Bartel family in your prayers.
Remember that we will be having “CHURCH IN THE PARK” on June 18 and 25. The Fricks will be doing pulled pork sandwiches on the 18th and hamburgers on the 25th. There are some amazing workers that have been working diligently on the historic church building for the last several months. Myron Johnston and Jerry Hutt have donated hours upon hours to handle many aspects of the remodeling of the old kitchen. In the new church building they just installed a waist high barrier wall in the church nursery to facilitate moms dropping of kids in the nursery. Michael Solomonson has done sheet rock work and electrical wiring work.Tammi Callahan, Louise Short and Elaine Peterson did work on sheet rock “mud & tape” as well as sanding. Paul Ross and Mike Thomas did work on painting the walls in the sanctuary. For many years we didn’t know what to do on the historic building. Every year it deteriorated and looked a little worse. A wonderful transformation has taken place due to these willing volunteers. Kip, Shelley and Abby Whipple donated a new stove and refrigerator for the kitchen. Thank you so much. My wife and Lynne Bryan have been overseeing the renovation project for the last several months. Their work has been paying off. There have been generous donations from the church congregation which have enabled this to happen. Thank you very much. I appreciate the students at Rockside removing a huge bush from the corner of the historic building. Thank you
Praise God for all these willing volunteers. Thank you for the generous gift of your time and energy.
