This Sunday is Palm Sunday. Throughout the history of Christianity the Church has remembered the “Triumphal Entry” of Jesus into Jerusalem one week before Resurrection Sunday. The event is a strange paradox. On Palm Sunday the crowds are celebrating Jesus with shouts of “Hosanna”. A short time later the crowds were demanding the death of Jesus. This Sunday our passage for study will be in Luke 23:1-25. In this passage Jesus is forced to stand before Pilate and then Herod. They both seem to realize that the charges against Jesus were without any legitimate foundation. But caving to public pressure they refuse to stop the plans for the crucifixion of Jesus of Nazareth. Yet, the redemptive plans of the Father were fulfilled in the midst of tragic human frailty. We are entering the final week of Lent. I hope you were able to attend the meetings with David Trubek of Chosen People Ministries. His explanation of the Passover was insightful. The Old Testament comes to life in a new way when we see Jesus in the events of the Exodus. On Good Friday we will remember Holy Communion at 6pm.
God Bless You
