This week we will be in Matthew 11:25-30. I have found the words of this passage of Scripture very encouraging over the years. I have needed these words of Jesus more than ever as I approach retirement. So many of you have expressed your encouragement in these past few weeks. All I can say is , “thank you”. I love our church yet this transition time has been unsettling. Change is hard. I know that God lead me to this decision but it doesn’t make it easy. I know that God is leading the leadership of our church and God will bring the right pastor for the next season of the Berean Church. My favorite verse is where Jesus says, “I will build my church and the gates of hell will not prevail against it”. Matthew 16 When I have looked at challenging situations in the life of a church I have been reminded of these words of Jesus. When I have looked at myself and wondered with uncertainty about direction and decisions the words of Jesus have helped me. Jesus loves His Church. Jesus loves His people that He purchased with His own blood. Jesus will fortify, strengthen and encourage His Church. Jesus will sustain and keep His church till we get to heaven. Say “No” to anxiety and fear. God is good and all that He does is good. The best days for the Berean Church are in the future. The Gospel will be preached here at the Berean Church. Believers will grow and be encouraged here. The Name of Jesus will be lifted up here and He will draw all people to Himself. Believers will find their spiritual gifts and serve. Believers will grow in community as they connect with small groups and encourage each other. This has been what has happened in churches since the book of Acts. This is what will happen till Jesus comes again.
Be encouraged!
