Dealing with Disappointment
Everyone has those days. Days when things don’t go like you anticipated, when something happens that brings discouragement or disappointment. Often those things are outside your ability to control or fix. How are we to handle those things?
I tend to moan and complain. “Why me? Why can’t things go like I want?”
But that is not God’s plan. I need to step back a bit, and get the ‘big-picture’ view. God is working something – in me or in someone else – that needs to be done. Sometimes He is protecting me from an unanticipated consequence. Sometimes He is teaching me to wait, to simply trust Him. Sometimes He is setting me on a different path. And sometimes my disappointment comes because God is working something in someone else’s life.
Simply trusting every day! That is vital. If I give in to complaining, I endanger not only myself, but others as well. Psalm 73:15 says “If I had said, “I will speak thus,” Behold, I would have betrayed the generation of Your children.”
Romans 8:28 And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.
