“Finding Truth”

How can we find truth in a world that constantly perverts the concept?

In order to discover objective truth, it must be measured against a standard and proven to be accurate. Scientists form hypotheses and then test them against established laws and facts to determine whether or not they hold true. In the same way, believers must evaluate their thoughts, beliefs, and actions against the unchanging Word of God to discern whether they are Christ-centered or shaped by the world around them.

Many phrases in our culture sound biblical but fall short of truth when tested against Scripture. Sayings like, “Cleanliness is next to godliness,” “God helps those who help themselves,” or “Money is the root of all evil” are often repeated as if they came straight from the Bible. While they may contain fragments of wisdom or reflect biblical principles, they are not Scripture. When we base our faith on half-truths, we risk building our lives on shaky foundations rather than on the solid rock of God’s Word.

That’s why truth matters. God’s Word is not just a source of wisdom—it is the standard by which all truth is measured. When we anchor ourselves in it, righteousness naturally follows. The breastplate of righteousness protects the heart, but it is forged in the fires of truth. Without truth, righteousness becomes self-made and unstable. But when truth shapes our hearts, we live rightly—not by our own strength, but by the power of God’s Spirit working through us.

“Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth.”  (John 17:17 ESV)

I’m praying that you would seek God’s truth above all else, allowing it to shape your heart, guide your steps, and lead you to live fully in the calling He has placed on your life.

With grace and love,

Pastor Brant
