The Christmas Eve Service was a joyous celebration of our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ. We have so many wonderful and talented people in our church. Through the efforts of such kind and generous folks great events like the Christmas Eve Service & Potluck take place. Lynne Bryan has put together a group of cheerful volunteers who serve at potlucks, baby showers and funeral receptions. This is a great example of Paul’s words in Ephesians 4 regarding “equipping the saints for the work of ministry”. One of our goals at SVBC is for each person to find their spiritual gift and engage in some type of ministry or service. Thank you Lynne for heading up this ministry. My wife and Lynne have given oversight to the remodeling and restoration of the historic church building for the last several years. Through donations of the SVBC church family the historic building has received a much needed “face-lift”. Myron Johnston, Jerry Hutt, Smoky Garbisch, Craig Hubbard, Paul Ross, Michael Solomonson, Tammi Callahan, Elaine Peterson and others have made the restoration possible. I know there are others. Forgive me if I forgot someone. It has been exciting to see the group of willing volunteers come together. This is an exciting picture of the Church, the living Body of Christ, in action. This Sunday I will be preaching on “Money, Tithing and Giving” from II Corinthians 8 & 9. Paul speaks of a group of Christians that willingly gave out of their poverty not their wealth. Israel has been in the news due to the war in Gaza. We know that Israel is central to much Bible prophecy. What should our informed, Biblical response be to Israel today? On January 7 I will dive into this thorny topic utilizing Romans 9 & 10. Be sure to sign up for the January 20 dinner at the church. There will be ministry reports, worship, testimonies and videos about the many things God is doing through the ministries of SVBC. Bob Fleener will be preparing a marvelous meal. Sign up in the church lobby.
God Bless You
