This week we will be in Luke 22:39-53. In the first half of this section Jesus is praying with deep sorrow regarding Calvary. Two times he challenges the disciples regarding prayer and the ever present reality of temptation. Another word for temptation is “trial”. As we all know we all face trials and temptations on this troubled planet. In the second half of this passage Jesus is arrested by Judas, the soldiers and the religious leaders. The events of Passion week are fast approaching. Jesus will go on trial on bogus charges. The disciples will panic and run with Peter leading the escape. Jesus will be crucified to accomplish our salvation and rise from the dead on Easter morning. It is without a doubt the singular greatest story ever told. I look forward to studying this passage together on Sunday.
God Bless You
