Hebrews is an interesting book in the New Testament. There is no definitive agreement on who wrote it. But, it is powerful in its intended purpose to show the Sufficiency and Superiority of Jesus Christ. Hebrews 4:15-16 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have One who has been tempted in every way, just as we are – yet He did not sin. Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. Probably more familiar is verse 12 of Chapter 4. For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing the soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. In other words, nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. I think the key phrase is “God’s word is alive and active”. If we just hear the Word on Sunday morning and nothing else throughout the week, His Word will not be that alive and active in our hearts. The challenge to me and I hope to you is to take the next step; read the Word. And, join a small group. There are several meeting now. Visit our website Small Groups and search for “Study” to see place and times.
This Sunday Sept. 22 Greg Griffin will be sharing and Susan Hoag will be leading music.
See you there! dmi
