Reminder………..Church in the Etna Park on Fathers Day June 16th. Scott will be speaking followed by a lunch of pulled pork sandwiches, hot dogs etc. provided by the Frick’s catering service. As we celebrate this special day in America, I feel that sometimes Dad’s don’t get the “press” that mothers get on their day. However, God watches with delight when a man is a loving and effective father. Sometimes his hard work and investment are silent and overlooked. But today we honor you fathers. You really are the cornerstone of the American family.
Here are some interesting quotes about fathers, both funny and true :
Billy Graham.. “A good father is one of the most unsung, unpraised, unnoticed; and yet one of the most valuable assets to our society.
Charles Woodsworth. “By the time a man realizes that maybe his father was right, he usually has a son who thinks he is wrong”.
Mark Twain: “When I was a boy of 14 or so, I thought my dad was soooo ignorant, I could hardly stand to be around him. But when I was in my 20’s, I was astounded at how much he had learned.”
Bill Gray: “Good dads forgive your mistakes. Great dads help you hide them from mom.”
Theodore Hesburg: “The most important thing a father can do for his children is to unselfishly love their mother.”
Raising 3 sons was the hardest thing I ever had to do. Joshua 1:9 helped me in that task. “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be discouraged, for the Lord God is with you wherever you go.”
See you at the park. PS: Bring a chair.
