I am a sappy sentimentalist. I don’t like goodbyes. My wife teases me when I get misty eyed during a Hallmark movie. Advertisements for humane societies make me sad because I wish every lost puppy had a home. That being said the last few weeks have been something of a roller coaster. Change is hard yet life seems to be full of change. I remember coming to the Berean Church in November of 2002. Bill Birch prayed for me on my first Sunday. That prayer along with the prayers of many others in the church has sustained me as your pastor. It has been an honor and a privilege to be the pastor at the Scott Valley Berean Church. You have welcomed me into your lives. We have prayed together, worshiped together, laughed together and followed Jesus together. I cherish the memories. I remember Christmas Eve services, Sunrise services and Communion remembrances with warm affection as we have reflected on the Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ.
The completion of the historic building has been wonderful. It happened due to the countless volunteers who gave of their time. The financial contributions from the church were generous. When I think of a healthy church I think of our church. I love God’s church. I love God’s church to be healthy and active. I love the words, “engagement” and “participation”. The church is a living spiritual organism, breathing and living by the Holy Spirit. God uses His church, imperfections and all, to change the world. Believers find their spiritual gifts and fellowship happens in Home Bible studies. The result is changed lives. This was the plan Jesus put into place. Our church is growing and healthy. All the praise goes to Jesus as He is the Head of the church. (Ephesians 4:1-6)
The best days for the Berean Church are in the future. God knows who the next pastor will be. We are all praying for the search process. He will bring the right person at the right time. I love, respect and appreciate the collective heart and wisdom of the elders. They are good men. They love Jesus and God’s Word. They are praying men who want God’s direction for our church. Pray for the elders. Pray for our church during this season of transition. God has the church in the palm of His hand. He will guide our church into the future.
God Bless You
Pastor Drew
