We are nearing the end of Luke’s Gospel. This Sunday we will focus on more of the resurrection appearances of Jesus. There are some fascinating words that Luke uses to reflect the hearts of people when they see Jesus.
We will be in Luke 24:36-53. If you read these verses you will find words such as “startled, frightened, troubled, doubts, joy and amazement” among others. In John 6 it says, “the work of God is to believe on the one He has sent”. Why do some believe in Jesus? Why do some refuse to put their faith and belief in Jesus? I suppose the reasons are as varied and diverse as the human race itself. I find the study of Apologetics interesting. Apologetics is not like an apology when you have hurt someone’s feelings. Apologetics is the defense of the Christian faith. Jesus said, “touch me and see, a ghost does not have flesh and bones”. Jesus was patient with their doubts and fears. Jesus took them to Old Testament prophecies that pointed to Himself. By the end of the passage it says in verse 52, “they worshiped and returned to Jerusalem with great joy”.
May we live in a continual place of worship and joy as we celebrate our risen Lord Jesus Christ.
God Bless You
