I’m putting up lights on the house today. Christmas lights. Some people love them, some don’t. But they do remind us of the significance of this season.
When Jesus came to the earth, He came to bring light. Many times He called Himself ‘the light of the world’. “While I am in the world, I am the Light of the world.” (John 9:5) “I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.” (John 8:12) John proclaimed “In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men. The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it. … There was the true Light which, coming into the world, enlightens every man.” (John 1:4-5,9)
The Lord willing, this Sunday we will look at John 1, and consider Jesus, the light of the world!
