“Peace”

This week has been anything but peaceful. Moving is certainly not for the faint-hearted, and the stress, exhaustion, and constant adjustments can leave you feeling unsettled. Then, as if to add one more challenge, strong winds last night brought a tree down toward our power line, leaving our new home without electricity. In moments like that, life feels like a blur—when it’s hard to take a deep breath and even harder to find a sense of calm.

Yet it’s precisely in these moments that God reminds us of the peace only He can provide—a peace that surpasses our understanding. David wrote that even in the face of danger, he had no reason to fear because God was with him. “You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies,” he said, and even there, God’s peace remained sufficient.

Jesus offers that same assurance in John 14:27: “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.” His peace isn’t dependent on circumstances, but on His presence. Our lives may be shaken, but our foundation in Him remains firm.

That’s the good news—and the reason Paul urges us to put on the boots of the Gospel of Peace. It’s not our own peace we walk in, but God’s peace—a peace that carries us through the storms and quiets our anxious hearts. So rather than focusing on what you cannot control, fix your eyes on the One who holds all things together. When you do, His grace and peace have a way of making even the largest obstacles seem small.

With Grace and Love,

Pastor Brant
