This past Sunday, we closed out our Living Right series by looking at the only offensive weapon God places in our hands—the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God (Ephesians 6:17). Every other piece of the armor protects us, but the sword empowers us. It equips us not just to endure spiritual battles, but to engage them with confidence.
The Word of God is more than ink on a page. It is living, active, and sharper than any two-edged sword. When Jesus was tempted in the wilderness, He didn’t argue, negotiate, or attempt to overpower the enemy with physical strength—He responded with Scripture. He wielded the Word with precision and authority, and the enemy fled. That same power is placed in our hands today.
If we want to live right in a world full of conflicting voices and deceptive messages, we must learn to draw the sword daily. The Bible isn’t a decoration for the nightstand or a backup plan in crisis. It is our source of truth, discernment, strength, and victory. When lies come, Scripture exposes them. When fear whispers, Scripture silences it. When we feel pressed, discouraged, or spiritually attacked, Scripture gives us the words, the promises, and the power to stand firm.
So the question becomes: Are we using the sword God has given us?
Not just reading it, but trusting it.
Not just knowing it, but living it.
Not just carrying it, but wielding it.
As we step into a new week, let’s pick up the Sword of the Spirit with renewed commitment. God has already established His victory. Live right by standing firm with the only weapon that matters: The Word of God.
With Grace and Love,
Pastor Brant
