We will be in the Book of Acts on Sunday. The question I will give you to ponder is this. “What is the Church?” I believe that the Church of Jesus Christ is the greatest enterprise on the planet. Jesus is the Lord of the Church. Jesus established the Church by His own blood. When the Holy Spirit was poured out in Acts 2 the church was birthed. God uses the church to proclaim the Gospel, grow believers and join people into the community of faith. We have been created to be followers of Jesus in community. When God looked at solitary Adam in Genesis we find the words, “it is not good for man to be alone”. God’s response was to create Eve. The same calling to community is given to Christians everywhere. In Hebrews we find the words, “neglect not the assembly of yourselves together”. The church of Jesus Christ is God’s plan for every believer. Find your spiritual gift and find a place to serve. Find a small group where you can grow in community and in your faith. If you are a “Lone-Ranger” Christian your spiritual growth will be stunted. Participate and engage in community. You will be blessed.
This coming Sunday I draw to a close 22 years at the Berean Church as your pastor. Change is hard. Transitions are hard. Pray for us. We are praying for you. God has the right person in mind who will be the next pastor of the church. Stay united and prayerful for the elders and the church as this time of transition is navigated. Jesus said, “I will build my church and the gates of hell will not prevail against it”. Matthew 16 God has Scott Valley Berean Church in the palm of His hand. I deeply appreciate and respect the men that God has raised up to be elders at our church. They love Jesus. They have wisdom. They love God’s Word. They are men of prayer who want God’s best for our church.
I have the fondest memories of our church over the last 22 years. It has been a privilege and honor to be your pastor. Thank you for your prayers.
God Bless You
Pastor Drew
