Summer is coming! I do look forward to the slightly slower pace of life, enjoying the outdoors, battling weeds and mosquitos. Oops, I forgot about those things. Oh, well. Summer is coming, whether we anticipate it or not.
Many people take vacations in the summer. Travel is great, and getting away from work and the daily routines is great. It can be very refreshing and reinvigorating. And it truly broadens our horizons. As St. Augustine of Hippo is quoted as saying: “The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only one page.”
One of the wonderful opportunities while traveling is meeting other believers. God’s family is immense, and encountering other believers, and experiencing their worship, is spiritually stimulating. Debbie and I have often found wonderful fellowship by visiting other churches when on vacation. And we, as a local congregation, get the privilege of meeting believers from other locations when they visit us in Etna.
I want to encourage you to take advantage of those opportunities. When you are traveling, look for a Bible-believing church to visit. Enjoy the variety in the body of Christ, and bring home ideas that can enhance our worship here at home.
