“It’s the most wonderful time of the year”, or so goes the song. And it is a very special time. We often enjoy time with family, sharing gifts and meals, putting up lights and having parties. We’ve made it a really special time. As Christians, we remember the baby in a manger, the shepherds in the field, the angel choir singing praises, the wise men bringing gifts. Those are warm, fuzzy memories. But when you stop and think about it, Christmas is only special because of what came AFTER Christmas. There probably have been hundreds, even thousands, of babies that were born in stables. But this story is unique because it is the celebration of God entering humanity in the form of a baby. It is unique because it is the kick-off of God’s plan to bring redemption to mankind. It is unique because this baby was Jesus, the sinless Son of God, the Savior who gave His life in our place, and then rose from the dead in victory. John 1:14 “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
